Our Services

Consulting & Workshops

Te Tī provides private consulting and game-based workshops that deliver immediate skills and development programmes for incorporating Te Ao Māori in corporate life and project management.  Whether you want to start with one of our targeted workshops or take a more comprehensive approach, we will deliver a programme to strengthen and future-proof your team. Starting with your organisation's strengths and characteristics, we build identity, cohesion and trust through integration of Tikanga, Te Ao and broader cultural competence in the daily life of your organisation.

The Name Is The Philosophy

It’s the tea, the real deal, the downlow on the Māori future of Aotearoa. And it’s sweet - a fresh, practical, game-based approach that adds value to your organisation. The old attitude is te ta - the salt - decades of engagement with Māori from a defensive, “if we really have to” position.

The pīwakawaka shares the gossip: that Te Ao Māori adds value - to people, to processes, to organisations.

And what’s the most important thing in your organisation? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata!

Te Tī - Serving the tea on the Māori future of business in Aotearoa.

Te Kaupapa o Te Tī - Our Mission

To unlock Te Ao Māori in the daily organisational culture of Aotearoa by providing fun, accessible learning opportunities that deliver immediately useful tools and practices to create meaningful transformation.

By providing fun, first-hand experiences to learn the fundamentals of Tikanga, Te Reo, and Te Tiriti, we deliver skills and insights that help participants engage respectfully and effectively in Māori spaces, and with Māori clients and stakeholders. By supporting the organisation's own whakapapa journey, and through our tikanga-based Agile Scrum methodology, we enhance staff skills, cohesion, wellbeing and retention, adding value to the organisation.

Te Reo - A Window into Te Ao

Sets your organisation up to gain and grow fundamental Te Reo insights and skills in one session.

You don’t need to master Te Reo Maori to gain some of the insights it provides into Te Ao Māori. In one session, we will focus on some of the fundamentals of Te Reo that reveal profound insights embedded in Te Ao. With a series of fun exercises and games, you will also gain skills that develop the most important aspects of Te Reo Maori needed to build the confidence and mana of your staff and organisation.

Te Mahi Tauawhi - Agile-Scrum Project Management Made Tika

Using insights from Te Ao Māori, we focus on the elements of Agile philosophy and particularly Scrum methodology that we have found are often neglected to the detriment of game development. Terri and Sara will consider how some of the guiding values of Te Ao Māori, such as Whakapapa, Whanaungatanga, Mana and Tapu, apply and add value to Agile-Scrum processes. Using these insights from mātauranga and tikanga Māori, we will present a Scrum-based model that emphasises and embeds the critical features often missing in game dev projects.

Agile and Scrum are frequently considered the go-to project management methodologies in game development, and many other business contexts outside software development. Unfortunately the fundamentals of Agile-Scrum are, more often than not, seriously misunderstood with research showing that approximately 80% of Game Dev studios that claim to use Agile-Scrum do not implement all the essential components of the system. With the vast majority of game dev projects experiencing periods of severe crunch, missed deadlines, blown-out budgets, massive feature creep etc, the term Fragile - Fractured or Failed Agile - has been coined by some analysts.
